7 comments:

  1. Richard Nixon was the 37th president of the United States. He was the only president to resign from office. Some people described President Nixon as having a paranoid personality, but a smart, talented man.
The watergate scandal was one of the many illegal activities authorized and carried out by Nixon's staff. The scandal started with teh arrest of five men for breaking and entering into the Democratic National Committee Headquarters at teh watergate office complex in Washington D.C. Nixon and his staff tried to cover up the break-in and its connection with the white house. Nixon eventually resigned.
The effects of the scandal disgusted voters with the Republican Party. In the next election democrats gained the higher percentage in the house and senate seats. It also caused changes in campaign financing, and ruined the public image of legal profession. It amended the freedom information act which allows full or partial disclosure of previously unreleased information and documents controlled by the United States and started two major reforms. Model code of Professional Responsibility which failed and replaced with Model Rules of Professioal Conduct. Which was a set of professional standards to establish the minimum baseline of legal ethics and professional responsibility.

  2. Richard Nixon was a man who did not like to be with people. He was highly intelligent, and could understand technical papers. He often retreated to a room alone and wrote things on his legal pad. He understood both the pros and cons of a problem, so he was not one-sided. It was said he had a deep desire for greatness and was paranoid and lived in constant suspicion. It was often said that he appeared to believe he and his staff felt they were above the law.
The effects of the Watergate scandal were many. The resignation of the president of course is the most obvious. The effect on the elections three months later was huge. With the public now not trusting the Republican Party, the Democrats gained in the Senate and overran the House. Campaign financing was also changed because of the Watergate Scandal. The Freedom of Information Act was amended. The public image of lawyers was tarnished. The public now began to pay closer attention to what their representatives were doing, and local and state officers were also watched more closely. The media also took on a greater watchdog role. He was the only president ever to resign from office.

  3. Richard Nixon was the only president to resign from office. He was intelligent, and he understanded technical papers. He had a notebook, that he called his legal pad. He would go into his room alone and write things. The Watergate scandal was was the Democrats' headquarters during the '70s. The "plumbers" or spies had worked for Nixon and were loyal to him. When the Watergate scandal broke from the media to the public, Nixon had tried to hide the tape recordings of him ordering to spy on the Democrats.
The effects of Watergate overzealous prosecution for protecting his political friends for lying about a crime that was petty in nature. It all ended when he was prosecuted by congress, and with dignity, resigned his elected office.

  4. Richard Nixon was the only president to quit office. He was the 37th president of the U.S. He's a republican, from california. Served presidency from 1969-73. he Was an author, he published ten books during his presidency. The Watergate scandal was an American political scandal during the presidency of Richard Nixon that resulted in the indictment and conviction of several of Nixon's closest advisors, and ultimately in the resignation of the President himself, on August 9, 1974.The scandal began with the arrest of five men for breaking and entering into the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate Office complex in Washington, D.C. on June 17, 1972. Investigations conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and later by the Senate Watergate Committee, House Judiciary Committee and the press revealed that this burglary was one of many illegal activities authorized and carried out by Nixon's staff. They also revealed the immense scope of crimes and abuses, which included campaign fraud, political espionage and sabotage, illegal break-ins, improper tax audits, illegal wiretapping on a massive scale, and a secret slush fund laundered in Mexico to pay those who conducted these operations. This secret fund was also used as hush money to buy the silence of the seven men who were indicted for the June 17 break-in.

  6. While Nixon was in office, he spent a lot of time on developing world peace which i think talks a lot about his character and attitude of his white house. The Watergate scandal basically cause him to leave office. He really didnt have any other choice. It was either that or be impeached. Other than that his political career probably did better after he left office than it was when he was still in.

  7. Nixon was the 37th president and also the first that we tryed to impeach because of his assosiation in the water gate scandal. He seemed to be having a good first term as president and people liked him but in his second term was unsure if he would win so he sent people to go get the democratic plans hoping that that would give him the upper hand but his men were caught and it was traced back to him then he didnt want o give the tapes up so the congress said they were gonna impeach him if he didnt and when he finally gave them the tapes they found out that they were tampered with so instead of being impeached her was the first president to resign
