The Cold War was the continuing state of conflict, tension and competition that existed after World War II between the Soviet Union and the Western World led by the United States. It began in the 1940s and ended in the 1990s. The conflict caused military coalitions, espionage, weapons development, invasions, propaganda, and technological development. The two never fought directly. The United States under President Regan increased diplomatic, military, and econimic pressure on the Soviet Union. President Mikhail Gorbachev of the Soviet Union introduced some reforms but they collapsed. Leaving the United States the stronger military power. Even though Russia kept most of their nuclear arsonal. The cold war is scarey because at any time a nuclear war could have broken out between Russia and the United States and demolished the world.
The cold war begins with the end of world war two, and the use of two atomic bombs against Japan. The cold war was a high tension nuclear stand off between the USA & Soviet Union. Most people never realized how close we came to nuclear annihilation. The most famous incident being the Cuban missle crisis. The cold war was also halmarked by the crusade against communism. Begining with what is known as the McKarthy era in the 1950's.Noteable incidents being the Korean war & Vietnam war. The two major players for the cold war are The United States & the former USSR. I think these are the most important ones. The reasults of the cold war are nat, space race, nuclear, atomic and hydrogen bombs were made and being advanced. America realized it wasnt invincible. It overall just gave bad relations between the east and the west.
The Cold War was a war after World War II that was between the USA and the Soviet Union. Some major players were John Kennedy, Joseph Stalin, Nikita Khrushchev, along with many others. Results of the Cold War was NATO, Japan and Germany were preparing for another war, the Soviet Union kept aiding the Eastern European countries and the United States national security budget increased. I think the Cold War was a hard situation for the soldiers and I'm glad we won and kept some peace in the world. Justin Grebloski
The Cold War was a struggle that lasted from the middle of the 1940’s to the end of the 1980’s. It was know as cold because there was no or little actual physical combat. The Cold War took place because The United States and the Soviet Union could not agree on rebuilding strategies after WWII. There was the threat of nuclear war, and an arms race that alarmed countries everywhere. The space technology race also was a big factor. There was a lot of espionage and proxy wars also took place, in which each country used smaller countries to battle each other. The United States and the Soviet Union were the major players of the Cold War. The Unites States wanted democracy and capitalism, and the Soviet Union wanted communism. Allies of the United States included Britain, France, West Germany, Japan and Canada. The Soviet Union side included Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland East Germany, Romania, and at times, Cuba and China. Some of the major crisis that occurred was the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, Korea, and the Berlin Wall. The growth of mass destruction weapons was the issue most worried about. The United States was in an actual physical war with Vietnam and Korea. The Cold War ended in December of 1989 when Pres. G. Bush and Gorbachev terminated hostilities. The main results were the collapse of the Soviet Union, economic rise of China, and rise of Islamic Fundamentalism in Iran and Afghanistan. The Eastern Europe people also rejected communism. This whole cold war was probably better than either of the World Wars as there were not mass killings (of military or civilians). Vietnam and Korea were two conflicts that did have causalities. Some good things came out of it, like the space race and all. The best outcome in my opinion is the fact that communism is not such a big threat anymore.
The cold war was a war that started right after world war two ended between the United States and the Soviet Union. It was an arms race between the two countries and it started because the Soviets wouldnt agree on rebuilding strategies after the war. It was also a great space race the soviets sere ahead of the U.S. at first when they launched spudnik a satelite that orbited the earth. But the U.S. started NASA and won in the end being the first to send men to the moon.
The cold war was a wasn't actually a war per-say. There were no shots fired in the "war". This cold war era is a battle between the Sov. Union and outselves, beginning after WWII. This war occured because the Sov. Union wouldn't compromise on re-making strategies when WWII was over. But the sov. union had the first space technology actually in space, which cause the us to launch a space satellite by the name of sputnik. Sputnik was a stellite that circled around the earth. And eventually, the U.S. won the space race with having neil armstrong to be the first man to walk on the moon. "A small step for man, a GIANT step for man-kind."
The cold war was a war that started after WW2. Because the soviet Union didnt want to help restart the country after WW2 was over. Even though the Soviet Union was ahead of us in technology they wanted to be the first people to land on the moon and so did the United States so they had a space race and the United States beat them to it.
The cold war was basically a struggle between the U.S. and the Soviets. There never was any real fighting but more of a threat after threat thing. The end result was that the U.S. had to realize that we're not invincible and maybe not the greatest country. The end of the "war" also led to things like the space race and an eventual arms race.
The cold war was a time of bitter feelings between the U.S. and russia, they were in a state of assured destruction and no one could do anything, i think it was bad, people got too scared and went to far.
