How did the role of women change during WW II? Have opportunities for women increased or decreased since this era? Remember to cite specific examples to support your answer.
The opportunities had increased for the women dramactically during World War II. The role of women was going out and doing men's jobs because they had to leave and fight for war. Some of the women's jobs were being factory workers and nurses, and some were journalists for the war. When this era came it was a spotlight for women to have freedom and get out instead of having to stay in their homes because of the war. This was a time that changed women's life and was a chance for them to change their life and meet society.
The role that women had during WWII was changed drastically. Women were needed in the workforce after the men went to war, as there were thousands of job vacancies. They were encouraged to leave the traditional role of being a housewife. Many worked in factories, building ships, munitions plants. They drove trucks, entered professional area of work, and helped to build aircraft. Women entered the work force more than ever and just about ruled it for about five years. There was a big increase on the number or women serving in the military also. The Women Airforce Service Pilots or WASPS was formed. These were the first women in history trained to fly American military aircraft. These jobs started the increasing of women’s pay, but it never equaled to the amount the men were making. The opportunities for women in the workforce have only increased since this time. More women than ever are in the workforce, they have climbed the great employment ladder farther than anyone would have thought possible. Women are on the top of many corporations, head of states, in the many braches of government, even at high levels. A woman actually was running for president recently, wow that was unthinkable before. There is no limit as to what women can do in this country, but unfortunately equal pay is still an issue in many instances. Jessica Gregis
During WWII many women went and quit their regular jobs to go and work in defense jobs. They did this because they were getting paid better. In the U.S many restaurants and laundries closed because they couldn't get anyone to help. Some married women who have stayed at home, and went to work in defense jobs. But still most women stayed at home. There was a shortage of teachers, so the ban on married teachers was lifted so they would have more teachers. At the end of WWII women had more choices to fight for their rights. They didn't want to have to go back into the house and just do chores. They wanted to be able to have a real job just like the men.
Womens role during World War II changed because they were needed to work. They needed to take over many different jobs that men used to do because men had to go to war. They took on jobs working in temporary amunition fatories, bank tellers, shoe salesperson, government jobs in Washington D.C., and other jobs that usually only men held. Women gained more respect by working outside the home. They fought for equal pay and gained confidence in themselves. Female pilots were employed to fly military aircrafts by the United States Air Force that freed up a male pilot for combat. I think all of these roles women took made a path for women that have only increased opportunity for women in the world today.
The role of women changed because when men were off at war, women had to step up and take some men-like jobs while they were gone. i think chances for women increased because, once america noticed a women could do some man jobs, maybe they had a better chance at getting hired since we now knew for sure they could do it. Like look how far we've come, once in time, women couldn't even vote. now this past election, we had a women run for president. So not only were women aloud to now vote, they are now being voted FOR. Times have changed.
I think that the role of women changed drastically during the war. It was the first time they were able to work in factories building engines and trucks and stuff for the war instead of being limited to doing office work or being techers like they usually had to do. And i think oppurnities have increased since then women can do anything that men can now they can work in factories on cars as doctors whatever they want they can do
