Also, immigrants were coming in from numerous coutries. A labor union is A trade union or labour union is an organization of workers who have banded together to achieve common goals in key areas such as wages, hours, etc.
Captain of industry was a term originally used in the U.S. during the Industrial Revolution describing a business leader whose means of amassing a personal fortune contributes positively to the country in some way. ...
The Great Southwest Railroad Strike of 1886 was a labor union strike against the union pacific and missouri pacific railroads.
The Homestead Strike was a strike against labor that started sometime in june 1892.During the 1800’s workers had limited mobility and limited employment opportunities. Because employees could not migrate to jobs with better terms of employment, they were forced to make the most of the jobs that they had -- even if this meant fighting to the death over the terms and conditions of employment.
The pullman strikee happened in illinois.Owned by George Pullman, the town was the home to all the workers at the Pullman Palace Car Company. When Pullman refused to meet with workers to discuss intolerable conditions brought on by the Panic of 1893, a national rail strike was orchestrated by the American Railway Union led by Eugene V. Debs.
May Day Strike On May 1, 1886, 350,000 workers staged a nationwide work stoppage to demand the adoption of a standard eight-hour workday. Forty thousand workers struck in Chicago, Illinois; ten thousand struck in New York; eleven thousand struck in Detroit, Michigan. 10. The Guiled age was a time of great advancements in the U.S. A guilded age pretty much means the country has great economic boost. The captains of industry were not bad people, but they werent very nice people either. Many of them were very philanthropic, but also treated their workers very badly. Because of their horrible treatment there were many strikes including : The Pullman Strike,
The Great Rail Strike, The Haymarket Square Riot, and The Homestead Steel Strike.
