Day 1 - The Gilded Age
What is a Gilded Age? Did America have a Golden Age or a Gilded Age? In this era the US saw the rise of industry and big business and the rise of labor unions. Discuss the relationship between the captains of industry and big business and labor unions. Be sure to touch upon the 4 most violent strikes that occurred during this period. Provide evidence to support your answer.
Day 2 - Immigration & Ellis Island
Research the Immigrant Experience at Ellis Island. How would you feel about arriving in America at Ellis Island? What would you find waiting for you as you entered the country? What obstacles would you face? Provide evidence to support your answer.
Day 3 - The Fate of the American Indian
Custer's Last Stand was one of the saddest events in the history of relations between the US and Native American Tribes. Explore the Battle at Little Big Horn. Do you think that there could have been a compromise between the two sides. Provide evidence to support your answer.
Day 4 - The Progressive Era
Why was the Progressive Era such an important period in History? Provide evidence to support your answer. The progressive era brought the US political, social, and economic reforms. Cite and discuss two reforms under each category.
Day 5 - Spanish American War
What factors led the US into the Spanish American War? Describe the provisions of the Treaty of Paris. What was the significance of the Spanish American War to the US?
Day 6 - WWII
What are the factors that led the US into WWI? Even thought this war was fought in Europe, it placed a great burden on the US. Why? How? Who was the president that led the US through WWI?
Day 7 - The End of WWI
What treaty ended WWI? Explain the provisions of the Treaty. Should the US Senate have adopted the Treaty of Versailles? Why or Why not? What does its rejection show you about the principle of the Separation of Powers? Provide evidence to support your answer.
Day 8 - The Roaring Twenties
Describe the Roaring Twenties or the Jazz Age. This age had both positive and negative implications for America. What were some of those positive and negative implications? Provide evidence to support your answer.
Day 9 - Woman's Suffrage
What year did women achieve voting rights in America? Which Amendment secured this right? Explore the Woman's Suffrage Movement in America. Describe the fight for the vote, the tactics used, and the key players. Discuss your personal feelings regarding this movement.
Day 10 - Herbert Hoover and the Great Depression
What were the root causes of the Great Depression?
Explain how Herbert Hoover attempted to bring America out of the Depression. Cite specific examples.

Day 11 - Japaneese Internment
What was Japaneese Internment? Do you think that this was a reasonable policy? Why or Why not? What did the US governemnt do in the 1980's in light of new evidence regarding the Japaneese? Provide evidece to support your answers.
Day 12 - America & The Holocaust
Research the role that America played in the Holocaust. Do you think that America could have done more to stop the atrocities? Explore and discuss your feelings about the Holocaust.
Day 13 - The Role of Women in WWII
How did the role of women change during WW II? Have opportunities for women increased or decreased since this era? Remember to cite specific examples to support your answer.
Day 14 - The Cold War
What was the Cold War? Who were the major players? What was the ultimate result? What are your feelings on the Cold War? Cite specific examples.
Day 15 - Desegregation
Research the following court cases: Plessy v. Ferguson & Brown v. the Board of Education. Brown was one of the most important court cases that the Supreme Court ever decided. Discuss the opinion in each case and how the two cases are interrelated. How would you have felt if you were an African American Student during this era?
Day 16 - The Kennedy Assassination
Explore the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Discuss your thoughts regarding the controversy surrounding this event. Explore both sides of the conspiracy theory and provide your own opinion. Remember to support your opinion with evidence.
Day 17 - The 1960's Counterculture
What were the goals of the serious members of the 1960's counterculture? What were the legacies of the counterculture movement? How did the art and music of this era reflect the goals and values of the counterculture and / or other subcultures or movements of the 1960's?
Day 18 - Richard Nixon & Watergate
Describe the Character of Richard Nixon and the attitude of his White House. What were the effects of the Watergate Scandal?
Day 19 - America's Response & President George W. Bush
Explain America's response to the terrorist attacks on NYC and the Pentagon on 9/11. Do you agree or disagree? Why or Why not? Support your opinion with specific examples.
Discuss and evaluate the programs that George W. Bush initiated during his presidency.
Day 20 - Obama's Plan
Explain President Obama's plan for America's Economy. Discuss whether or not you feel that President Obama has been successful thus far. Use specific examples to support your opinion. If you were president, is there anything you would have done differently? If so, what? Why? How?
